Ford trucks are among the most popular vehicles in the United States, and the F-150 is a leading model. Tamiya is bringing back one of its classic Ford truck kits as the F-150 Ranger XLT, with several updates. The Ford F-150 Ranger XLT was first released as a 1/10 R/C kit in 1981. The 1980 Ranger was the first model in the seventh generation of the F-series. It had angular styling and a robust ladder frame, and it was built for both light weight and durability. The Ranger was the upscale grade, with extensive exterior features such as two-tone paint and chrome trim. The Free Wheeling Package was an option that added stripes and a special color scheme. The re-release keeps the original body but adds newly molded side mirrors, wipers, headlights (separately sold LED lights can be fitted), a front section with grille and bumper guards, and a front stealth body mount with no front body mount holes for a more realistic look.
