On 26 September 1993, Tetsuya Harada was preparing his machine at the Jarama circuit before the final round of the season. His win made him the first Japanese World Champion since 1977. His closest rival, Loris Capirossi, led the standings going into the race, but bad luck undermined him in the battle for the 250cc GP2 title. Though it was Harada's debut season in the World Grand Prix, he had worked closely with Yamaha for a couple of seasons, refining the works TZM bike that carried him to the 1992 All Japan Championship. The 1993 Yamaha TZ250M used a 249cc liquid-cooled V-twin rated at 94 horsepower. Crankcase reed valve induction was paired with an electronically controlled exhaust valve. The six-speed gearbox used an electronic cut-out system that changed gears without clutch use, reducing racing stress. The engine sat in Yamaha's rigid twin-spar box-section aluminum frame, whose head angle could be adjusted. Kit: 1/12 scale Ducati 888 Superbike Racer plastic model
