About this part
This 1/160 scale tuna seiner kit measures 5.5 inches long. It is a compact, detailed model meant for general use on N-scale layouts or waterfront dioramas. It is not tied to a specific boat's history. Tuna seiners are commercial fishing vessels that use large purse seine nets, curtain-like nets with a drawstring, to surround and catch schools of tuna near the surface. They fish worldwide with helicopters, speedboats, and brine freezing to preserve their catch. They range from 65 to 320 feet long. Their bycatch of species such as dolphins and sharks has drawn sustainability concerns.
