A 1/8 scale Silver Knight kit from the original Aurora tooling, packaged in the classic long box. It is molded in silver with a yellow plume and includes detailed instructions. The finished figure stands 9.50 inches tall on a display base marked with the Aurora copyright. With modest care, it can be built in about two hours. BACKGROUND: The Silver Knight of Augsburg dates to 1560. When knighthood was at its height, knights often challenged one another to combat for little or no reason, and armor developed in part to limit needless bloodshed. This suit is a composite, drawing on more than one version of armor from its period. Suit weights varied with accessories and the wearer's build, generally between 70 and 90 pounds. Suits like this were used mainly for the tilt, also called the joust.
