The Roller-Skating Robot is a whimsical robot from Tamiya's craft model design team. It moves forward by opening and closing its legs, a motion known as swizzle, which is the same movement used in skating. The caster limit restricts caster movement and turns sideways motion into forward motion. The rudders on the skates steer the robot. Push the left rudder outward to turn left, and the right rudder outward to turn right. You can choose a clear blue body, which shows the internal mechanism, or a white body, which can be painted. Speed is 33.3 cm/s (1.2 km/h), taking about 3 seconds per meter. The minimum turning radius is about 300mm. It includes everything needed for snap-fit and screw-together assembly, and it comes with a type 130 motor. One AA battery is required, sold separately. It can also run along rails using separately sold universal arms.
