Tamiya 1/35 Israeli Tiran 5 Tank, Limited Edition Re-Release

About this part

Tamiya's limited edition re-release of the 1/35 Israeli Tiran 5 tank. During the 1967 Six-Day War, the Israeli Defense Force captured many T-55 tanks from Arab countries, modified them and put them into service as the Tiran 5. Many Tiran 5s had their 100mm gun replaced with a 105mm version and gained extra weapons: an M2 heavy machine gun on the gun mantlet and individual machine guns for the commander and loader. Storage boxes on the right side of the turret aided friend-or-foe identification. Tiran 5s fought in the Yom Kippur War in October 1973 and stayed on the front line until the early 1980s. Afterward they went to forces around the world, including the South Lebanese Army.
