Reedy's new Sonic SP5 stock motor has a fresh design aimed at top-tier stock performance. Its stator is designed in-house to deliver high torque and power without giving up RPM. The copper magnet wire is sized to the largest gauge the rules allow and wound to keep resistance close to the legal minimum. Heat transfer epoxy draws heat away from the windings, which reduces fade over a race. An oversized collector ring and thick solder tabs lower resistance and power loss. The rotor is balanced and uses a high-strength magnet sized to get the most out of the dimensional rules, producing fade-free power. Precision stainless steel ball bearings support it for high-RPM running with good efficiency and reliability. As with all Reedy Sonic motors, a high-quality sensor board sits inside the can.
