Trains heading toward intersecting rail lines and junctions will find the Interlocking Tower, a new Built- & -Ready Landmark Structure. Towers like this one house an interlocking machine that controls train movements through signals, switches, and track circuits. The system also keeps operations at stations and junctions safe. The interlocking machine's model board sits in the center of the upstairs cabin and can be seen from 360 degrees through windows on all sides. The operator's desk, a wood stove, lanterns, pin-up posters, and a calendar are also visible. Outside, the two-story tower has a weathered shingled roof, an identification sign reading "WS No. 7," and an upper deck with a staircase to the ground. Tires, a wire spool, a water hose, a diesel tank, and barrels show the daily activity at the tower, along with a toolbox and a pair of boots outside the upstairs cabin door. The building has three lights, including two over the exterior doors.
