About this part
The #158 is a Kadee 'Scale' all-metal, self-centering whisker coupler with a 9/32 center height. It has a smaller head patterned after the type 'E' couplers and a metal whisker centering spring. It comes with an insulated draft gear box and lid. The #158 can be mounted with the supplied #242 draft gear box or with cast-on coupler pockets. It couples and uncouples with other Kadee HO and HOn3 couplers. It has the same shank length as the No. 5, #28 or #58, so it can replace any of them. It is made of the same metal as the No. 5 and #58. Metal couplers should not sit directly on a metal surface or in a metal draft gear box, because that can cause electrical crossover, shorting and damage. Use the provided insulated draft gear box. The package contains two pair of couplers, two pair of #242 gearboxes, and instructions.
