Hawk tires are a strong choice for dirt and sand. This pre-mounted front tire in Platinum compound has multiple directional ribs that cut through loam and silt. It is made for the Traxxas X-Maxx and XRT, whether you are running desert, beach sand, or anywhere the rear grips more than the front steers. The large-scale Hawk front is 1:1 inspired. Radius ribs placed in a step-up pattern give turning traction at different depths of surface. JConcepts ambassadors report that a paddle-style rear tire such as the Animal #4016-3994 throws strong forward traction and rooster tails in loose sand. Running that tire on the front often damages the body or fills the interior with dirt, and paddles turn poorly at low or high power.
